Finding your purpose through a relationship with nature
The usual way we're taught to look for our purpose in life is by analysing our wishes, drives and ambitions. But down the millennia, human beings have found essential wisdom by drawing on inner wisdom and an authentic relationship with the living world around them.
Becoming is a three-day self-directed retreat designed to help you find your purpose or take a new direction through learning to return to your authentic self and your 'oldest knowledge'. Working at your own pace, from wherever you are, you'll move through a gentle but profound process of remembering, listening, and stepping into who you're here to be.
This is not another mindfulness course. It is something older, deeper, and — as many find — more lastingly transformative.
You feel a persistent sense that something is missing, even when life looks fine from the outside.
You've lost a sense of direction and aren't sure what comes next, or why it matters.
You feel drawn to nature but haven't known how to make that feeling mean something in your daily life.
You're tired of advice that feels like productivity coaching with plants. You want something real.
You're at a turning point: a change of career, a loss, a recovery, a new chapter — and want to approach it with intention.
You're curious about the intersection of ecology, anthropology, and what it means to live a meaningful life.
Before we can become, we must remember. Day One invites you to reconnect with what you have always known: the sense of belonging to something larger than yourself that most of us learned to ignore. Through guided outdoor practice, storytelling, and reflection ethically informed by anthropology and indigenous knowledge traditions, you begin to recover a way of being in the world that has always been yours.
Purpose rarely arrives as an announcement. It emerges when we learn to be still enough to hear it. Day Two is about developing the art of listening: to the living world, to your own body and instincts, and to the questions that have been asking for your attention for longer than you realise. You'll be given both the science and the ancient practice behind this kind of deep listening.
The final day is the most personal. Drawing on everything that has emerged over the retreat, you begin to articulate — in whatever form feels right — what you are becoming, and what your unique way of belonging to this world looks like. Not a plan. Not a goal. A direction, a rootedness, and a renewed capacity to live from your deepest values. You'll leave with something you can carry with you.
No fixed dates, no live calls to attend. Work through the three days whenever suits, consecutively or spread over a week. The only requirement is access to some outdoor space, however small.
Each day includes written material drawing on Dr Quaintrell's original research, audio guides, reflective practices, and outdoor exercises. Everything you need is provided; no prior knowledge required.
Whether you have a garden, a local park, a window box, or a wild hillside — the retreat is designed to work with whatever nature is available to you.
Once you have the course, it is yours. Many people find they return to it at different seasons of their life.
Early birds who join now will receive access as soon as the retreat launches, and are helping to bring it into being. Your early support matters hugely.
I have spent almost two decades exploring what it really means for humans to live in relationship with the Earth we co-evolved with — a quest that has taken me around the world.
The journey eventually led me to ask: how do we bring what nature-centred communities call our 'oldest knowledge' back into the everyday lives of people in industrialised societies who have lost touch with it? Eden Rooted is my answer to that question.
I have a PhD in anthropology and musicology, a background in teaching, lecturing, the arts, and I'm a permaculturalist, forager and self-medicating herbalist. I work with depth, warmth, and complete commitment to wellbeing.

Not at all. The retreat is designed to work with whatever access to nature you have: a window box, a local park, a back garden, or a mountain! The practices scale to your context.
Absolutely. Many people who feel drawn to nature still haven't been able to translate that draw into a sense of purpose or direction. That's exactly the gap this retreat is designed to bridge.
It means you move through the material at your own pace, in your own time. There are no live sessions to attend and no deadlines. You receive everything you need and work through it when it suits you.
You'll receive a confirmation from Juno directly, and full access to the course as soon as it launches in May 2026. If you have any questions before then, she is reachable and happy to be in touch.
Yes. If you change your mind before the course launches, simply get in touch and a full refund will be arranged. After launch, access to all materials will have been provided, so refunds won't be available, but please do reach out with any concerns.
